Band of Brothers

A girl can do nothing without the love and support of her brothers. Chad, Ned, and Tim are the best brothers a girl could ever ask for. They always tell me what I need to hear whether I want to hear it or not. They always give the best advice and example. What more could a girl want?  Here is Tim, me, and Chad at the BYU vs Utah game. Although a very depressing game, being with family makes it all the better. Such studs!!!

The Magical World of Disney

I came, I saw, and I conquered. It was my first trip to the state of California, West Coast Beaches, and Disneyland. Oh how much fun this little adventure. If this was not enough, I got to spend this trip with my EFY groupies in the most magical place on earth. I did discover a few things about myself on this trip: 1. I HATE LONG LINES (My patience was definitely tested with the hour long wait time on some rides. Thank goodness for fast passes) 2. Three whole days at Disneyland is enough to last you a lifetime. I discovered that I am not a amusement park lover. 3. I love dance parties (Tron Electronica- best time ever). It was my favorite "ride" at Disneyland 4. I am a beach lover. Newport Beach was beautiful. I could walk the beach/boardwalk all day, every day. 5. Sadly, California is kind of ugly other than the beach areas. I have never really considered Utah a beautiful state or appreciated the beautiful mountains in Utah but now I do.

All in all it was a blast and had some great laughs with some great people.

Tim McGraw

So what do you do when EFY ends and you have to go back to the real world? Start it off with a party of course! A group of my friends went to see Tim McGraw at USANA on Saturday night and it was such a blast. I forgot how much I love country music. Utah's finest come out to party!!!

Especially for Youth

I have been working as a health counselor for EFY-Provo this summer and it has been an amazing experience. I did not know if I would like being a health counselor since I absolutely loved being a youth couselor the last couple of years. It has been such a learning experiece. EFY is such a great program and allows you to grow just as much as the youth that come to EFY. I have been pushed to learn new things, not be so shy at times, and grow closer to the Savior. The link will take you to a video of my beautiful friend Angela and I singing a song that is on the EFY cd this year called "The One." It is my personal favorite and has a great message. Thanks to Angela for allowing me to sing with her. Below is also a picture of the infamous Blue Team with one of our session directors this summer, The Larsen Family. These are the people that I have been spending my summer with. They are all so differnt but equally stellar individuals and our team is unstoppable! I am going to miss working for EFY when it is over. Sometimes I find myself wondering how in the world I am getting paid to do what I do. Such a life building experience. A big thanks to Maggie, Brooke, Dan, Brad, Kendall, Angela, and Tia for making this experiece so memorable. There's no place like home!

Hauser-Salmon Bridal Shower

One of my best friends and roommates, Caitlin Hauser, is getting married on May 14th  and we had to have a little bridal shower for her. It was so fun! We had it at this little bakery shop called "The Chocolate" in Orem, UT. Such a cute little place. We had lots of delicious food and of course a yummy cake from there. The red velvet cake is to die for!

I should have been a baker...

These could quite possibly be the best cookies ever made. I want to make these very soon.

Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
recipe courtesy of Picky Palate

•2 sticks butter, softened
•3/4 cup packed brown sugar
•1 cup white sugar
•2 large eggs
•1 tablespoon vanilla extract
•3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
•1 teaspoon salt
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
•1 package Oreo cookies – I used Double Stuffed
(may add one package of vanilla instant pudding to the dough mixture)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In the bowl of a stand mixer (you can also use a hand mixer), cream together the butter and sugars. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the wet mixture and combine thoroughly. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Chill the dough for 15 minutes to make it easier to work with and to keep the dough from spreading when baking.

Using a cookie scoop place one scoop of dough on top of an Oreo cookie. Place another single scoop on the bottom of the Oreo to create a cookie sandwich. Seal the edges together to completely close in the Oreo.

Place the balls of cookie dough on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 9-13 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.
