So yeah...It's be awhile...

Well it took the flu to give me the time to be able to update you on good ole life. That's right folks. This is the first time in 7 years that I have gotten the flu. And boy is it miserable. I have been quarantined to my room. Thank goodness I work my shifts at the hospital in a row so that I've had the last 4 days off to endure this beast of a disease! Well, I have lots of good things to report. So much going on in life right now. 1. Mom and Dad came home from China and it's been a blast and a half. Lot's of movies and delicious meals going on over here. 2. Prusse Family Reunion booked and official. October 5-12- Disney Cruise- St. Thomas, St. Martin, Castaway Cay. I have a room with a veranda. I'm not excited at all. We're going on excursions to snuba, jet ski, parasailing, and mountain biking. Let the countdown begin!!! 3.I'm finding work life. (aka money) is amazing. ;0) 4. I'm going to Nashville March 7-12. 5. Still training for The Spartan and my body hurts basically every minute of every day. It will be worth it in the end though. 6. My brother bought me pink boxing gloves for Christmas. Their so cute. I was in the best shape of my life about 3 years ago and it was when I was boxing at this gym in Provo. 7. I'm moving back to Provo! haha Surprise!!! I never thought I would ever say that but here are the reasons. a) I literally have no friends here in South Jordan. Everyone just stays at home and does not want to interact with other people. It's weird. And we all know I am a social butterfly. b) I should be where I have friends. c) My favorite Zumba instructor teaches in Provo/Boxing gym in Provo ;0) d) I only work 3 days a week. I can commute 30 mins 3 times a week. Lots of people do that commute every single day. I've got to put in at least a year at my current job before I can look at moving out of Utah so I should enjoy my time here as long as I am able to. Any who, I'm excited to be back with my friends and have a social life again. 8. Justin Timberlake is back. ;0)

Well that's all the energy I have to write so hopefully that tides you over!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I love this time of year. The music, decorations, smells, delicious things to eat, and of course being around some of my favorite people. This year, it's a little bit different. My parents are still on a mission in China and my brother, who lives in Utah, is going to the in-laws this year. So that leaves my sister and I alone. It's going to be so much fun though! We have so many fun traditions in my family. We always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and make breakfast. This year, I made my Momma's overnight french toast. It is so delicious. Then we always watch the dog show. I know. It's kinda weird but my mom and I love it. I don't know why but we're addicted. During all of this we're going through the newspaper and making our Christmas and Black Friday shopping lists. My sister and I always go out with all those other crazy shoppers. We make it fun.

We are not about to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for two people so we are headed to Mimi's Cafe for dinner. That is one of my favorite restaurants and they serve a turkey dinner. I'm addicted to their corn chowder. I kind of like the idea of not cooking. It is so stressful and such a mess. We might be starting a new tradition in our family by going out to dinner in the future. I love the idea of not doing any dishes! ;0)

I'm so grateful for so many things but here are just a few:
1. Good hearted people
2. Country Music
3. Following your dreams
4. Laughter
5. The reason for the season.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

I love my life.

I recently switched jobs from Pediatrics to Labor and Delivery. It was a necessary move and I believe a better path for my career. Career?!?! It is so weird to say that. To be honest, I never thought I would have a career. When I was 21, there was no way that I thought I would have graduated college and not be married by 23, start having kids, and busy raising a family/supporting a hubby while living in the south. Well, two degrees later I am successfully a 25 year old, single, white female. My life could not have turned out more differently than imagined. But with all that said, I would not trade any experience, hardship, blessing, or plan that has or has not worked out in my life. I have learned so many life lessons that I know that I would not have learned if my life had turned out according to "my plan." I probably would have never even gone to nursing school if life had taken the walk down the isle at a younger age. There are so many reasons why I needed to be a nurse and have the knowledge that I have.

I love my job. It is seriously the coolest experience to help these moms bring their precious little spirits into the world. I am amazed and loving the experiences that I am having. I never really sought out to be a Labor and Delivery nurse. I always thought that I would be in pediatrics because that is where the majority of my work experience is grounded. During my nursing clinical during school, I literally walked out of my first encounter with childbirth thinking that  women got the short end of the stick. Labor is not an easy or glamorous experience. It truly is amazing what the human body is capable of doing. I always walk away from work thinking that there is absolutely no way that God cannot exist.

I'm getting much more used to not living in Provo. I still miss all my friends like crazy but I am making new friends here and making the necessary changes in life. It was a bit of a shock for me at first. It is a very different life not living in a college town. It has its advantages and disadvantages but I knew that it was time to take a leap and move forward in life. You cannot expect that anything is going to change if you keep on doing the same things in life. You have to take some risks. It's a scary jump but it has lead me in the direction that I need to go and I know that I will continue to be guided in all of my decisions. True faith builder.

I love the new, different, and challenging experiences that I am having in my life. I am developing so many more talents, passions, knowledge, and have a better understanding of what is really important in life. I am so grateful!

The Butterfly Circus

You must watch this movie. I promise it is well worth your time. My sister showed this to me and it is truly inspiring. We are all magnificent. It's just how we CHOOSE to see ourselves.

Can I Have Your Number?!?!?!

One of my friends won VIP tickets to see Jana Kramer tonight in SLC. This is so weird to me because about three months ago my friend Alex and I were discussing our celebrity crushes. Mine is Chris Young and his is Jana Kramer. I found myself winning the chance to meet Chris Young before a concert of his we were attending. Alex stopped on his way to the concert and made a sign for me to show him. Made my day! When my friend called me to invite me to tag along, Alex was the first person I thought of and how I had to talk to him about this. His response? "Hey Kell! You remember that one time when I hooked you up at Chris Young? I think you should at least give her my phone number." So if I get a chance to meet her tonight, I am giving her his number/calling him when I am in her presence. You're welcome Alex!!! We LOVE country music!

Filling the Time

Tonight I had a very good and needed realization. I LOVE NOT BEING IN SCHOOL. I felt a little bit lost when there were no more due dates and assignments to complete. I mean, school is the one thing that has defined my time since the age of 5. No one really prepares you for after the diploma. They just tell you to get done as soon as you can. I go to work and then the rest is up to me. No one determining what I have to accomplish or study. IT'S AMAZING!!! haha I've picked up some new and old hobbies. But the best part is that I have been able to think about myself and be selfish for the first time in I don't know how long. Here are some of the things I have done/plans I have come up with for my new spare time:

1. Travel: I want to finally use this passport that I have had for years now with no stamps. I decided that I am going somewhere next summer. It may be a humanitarian trip or just for fun. Or why not both?!?! I really want to learn Spanish. ;0)

2. Reading: I love to read books. My mom is an avid reader and her biggest wish is that we would gain an appreciation for books like she has. Now that I can read something other than patient care plans and pathophysiology, I went to the local library yesterday and got 6 books.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Catching Fire- Suzanne Collins (re-reading)
Wither by Lauren DeStefano
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
The Best of Me by Nicolas Sparks
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

I decided that I should read all of the Nicholas Sparks books that are out that have not been made into movies yet. We all know that they will be at some point so might as well as get that out of the way! I prefer Young Adult or Juvenile Fiction books. When it gets too serious then they lose my attention. I still, to this day, have not touched the Harry Potter series. We'll see if I ever do. I'm not anti-Harry Potter, it's just never intrigues me. If you have any suggestions, please tell. I'm not good at picking them out on my own.

3. Guitar: I practice everyday for an hour. I'm getting better everyday. I really want a new guitar for Christmas. I also want to learn to play the ukulele.

4. Pinterest: It's extremely addictive. I did not see how people were so obsessed with this until I tried it myself and now I can say that it is addictive. I mean really. Trust me. Don't start unless your prepared to dedicate your entire evening or even weekend cause you will not be able to stop.

5. TV Shows: The Voice, The Amazing Race, Parenthood, Modern Family, The Five, E! News, Say Yes to the Dress, OWN, & CMT.

6. Les Miserables- I am so unbelievable excited for this Christmas. It's going to be beautiful. I listen to this song almost everyday. Secretly, I wish I was Eponine. I love her character and Samantha Barks, who plays her in the movie. Ignore Nick Jonas in this video. NOT the best Marius.

7. Gym- Golds is seeing a lot of me these days. It's a good thing.

8. Family- I've been able to spend so much more time with family. I love my nieces and nephews so much! They say the cutest things. My sister-in-law, who lives in AZ, was telling me how my 3 year old nephew saw the temple they are building in Gilbert, AZ. He then asked his mom if that is where Jesus lives. She replied yes. He then told her that he wanted to go see him (Jesus) because he missed him. SO CUTE!!!
